About Rev. Dr. Louis Wilkenson

My Story

I didn't start out planning to become a compassion coach. I started by answering a calling.

After years in ministry, I entered the Clinical Pastoral Education program at Emory Winship Cancer Institute — one of the nation’s premier cancer treatment centers. Every day, I walked alongside patients and families in the most vulnerable moments of their lives. I learned that being present, truly present, is one of the most courageous acts a human being can offer another.

NEED ADVICE?

Not sure where to start? Let's just talk

Sometimes the most important step is having one honest conversation. I’d love to hear what you’re navigating and point you in the right direction — even if that direction isn’t me. What surprised me was how desperately that same presence was needed outside hospital walls — in workplaces, families, communities, and leadership spaces where people were silently struggling, burning out, and disconnecting from their purpose.

That’s when Compassion Coaching Academy was born. Not from a textbook, but from the trenches of real human experience. My approach blends pastoral wisdom, evidence-based coaching practice, and the kind of hard-won insight you can only get when you’ve held someone’s hand through the unthinkable. I believe you are stronger than your circumstances. I believe the compassion you extend to others must first be extended to yourself. And I believe that when you lead from that place, everything changes.

Welcome. I’m glad you’re here.

You Were Made for More Than Just Getting Through

There’s something on the other side of what you’re facing — and you don’t have to get there alone.
